Kuala Lumpur, 23 June 2005
On June 10th, YTL Land & Development Berhad celebrated the completion of The Tamarind at Sentul East, the maiden residential development in YTL’s urban renewal exercise for Sentul. The announcement was made at a sneak preview with 50 of their valued partners.
Speaking at the event, Dato’ Yeoh Seok Kian, Deputy Managing Director of YTL Corporation Berhad said, ”The completion of The Tamarind marks a milestone for us at YTL, as it signifies the start to the realisation of our Sentul masterplan – a seven-year journey that will see the revival and renewal of Sentul.”
Other elements of the masterplan that are gradually being realised is the 35-acre private gated Sentul Park, scheduled to be ready by October 2005, and the newly completed Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre – the majestic new home for the performing arts in Malaysia, which is located at the fringes of Sentul Park.

“With all these elements of the masterplan flourishing rapidly, it is no wonder that the capital appreciation of The Tamarind has increased by a staggering 45% from its original launch price. Currently transacting at RM260 psf, the appreciation of The Tamarind’s value is timely as it proves itself as a development that combines the choicest of property with the most comprehensive of facilities – living up to the YTL promise of not just about buying into a home, but into an investment as well,” continued Dato’ Yeoh.
Starting from just RM201,600, The Tamarind comprises of two 31-storey tower blocks and two low-rise blocks that comes with floor to ceiling windows allowing residents the choice of 2 views – the serenity of Sentul Park or the vast KL city skyline. With a built-up area of 1,079 sq ft to 1,345 sq ft, every apartment at The Tamarind is a corner unit and come with three bedrooms and an additional maid’s room.
“Moving forward, the pace doesn’t stop. We will keep the momentum going with new product launches each year, to make Sentul more and more the new address in KL. In fact, we are looking towards launching the next residential condominium development in Sentul East, The Saffron, by 3rd quarter of 2005,” Dato’ Yeoh added.
In the future, Sentul East will further develop to include the Sentul Skywalk, an elevated pedestrian walkway connecting the Sentul KTM Komuter Station and the Sentul Timur LRT Station, and Sentul Walk, a tree-lined retail strip that anchors the Sentul East development. Sentul Walk will be Sentul’s commercial and cosmopolitan centre of activity, while still maintaining the ethnicity and colourful heritage of Sentul East.

Located just fifteen minutes from the heart of KL, The Tamarind is easily accessible via the Sentul KTM Komuter and the Sentul Timur STAR LRT; The new enhanced accessibility link beginning from Taman Duta and ending at Jalan Ipoh; The Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) which will be constructed in the north of Sentul providing immediate links to the SPRINT; and the new Sentul Link, which will create a new gateway to Jalan Sentul and Jalan Ipoh by connecting Jalan Mahameru at the intersection of Jalan Kuching. Sentul Link in the future will help to alleviate existing traffic congestion at the Jalan Mahameru-Jalan Ipoh, Putra World Trade Centre intersection.
Designed to revitalise and regenerate this historical part of KL, Sentul was conceptualised in two distinct areas; Sentul West and Sentul East, each characterised by its own unique personality. Sentul West is a haven of greenery, housing exclusive residences, offices and shops bordering on a 35-acre private gated park. Sentul East was developed in the context of Jalan Sentul, seen as a combustion of vibrant Malaysian flavours that sets the tone for modern downtown living while retaining the colourful heritage of Sentul.
